PDS History

PDS started the business in the winter of 1972. The company was incorporated as PROFESSIONAL DRAFTING SERVICES, INC. December 13th, 1972.

Ken Gerelds has always been president of this company. Ken started in steel detailing after attending Auburn in the school of engineering and working in the drafting departments of the Ingalls Iron Works Company, Strickland & Associates, Memefee & Smith Drafting company and The Rust Engineering Company.

The first PDS offices were located in the professional building at 11 West Oxmoor Homewood Alabama on the fourth floor. The company operated there until 1980 when it moved into the newly renovated 4000 sq. ft offices on the second floor in the Ken Del Office building located at 5601 1st Ave. No. Birmingham, Alabama.
